Our Overall Favorites
Reebok Floatride Run Fast
The fastest shoe you can buy right now is the controversial Nike Vaporfly 4%. However, they cost $250 and are very hard to find. This is, in our opinion, the next best thing. It's pebax foam is lighter than standard EVA foam, but also provides great support and superb energy return. If you want a top performance shoe in a mid price range, try the Floatride Run.
Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo
Nike has been making the Pegasus forever (this is the 35th iteration). Throughout its lifetime, the Pegasus has been a go-to trainer with excellent support and long distance capabilities. However, it's always been on the heavier side. With the Pegasus Turbo, Nike changed the foam, creating a shoe that lives up to its history as far a durability and comfort, but feels more similar to a speed shoe in weight.
Nike Zoom Superfly Elite
This shoe won this list for two reasons: the spikes and the Flymesh upper. Nike took an innovative approach for the spike plate, using a new pattern with 8 removable spikes. Runners have loved this approach, especially for short distances. Also, the redesigned Flymesh upper has recieved widespread praise. Reviewers have said its very comfortable, even when worn against bare skin.
